Stories

1.) describe a context or situation in your thesis

The interior designer has her own company and is always looking for new products/fabrics/patterns/etc. She knows how much people are aware of the environment and being green. The items that had to do with nature seemed to be popular so she was looking to buy more. “Natural Patterns” used colors, shapes and patterns from nature which fit into that category in which she was looking.

2.) illustrate problems (or concepts)

A woman is looking to decorate her apartment and does not have much knowledge in interior design. She moved to the city from a small town in Connecticut. She grew up spending a lot of times outdoors and wanted to bring that idea into her new apartment. “Natural Patterns” uses shapes, colors, textures and patterns from nature to make textiles and wallpapers. These patterns were a good way to bring her love for nature into her apartment.

3.) become a launching point for discussion

A woman moved into her new home and was having a house warming party. She used the “natural pattern” fabric to cover a chair in her living room. One of the guests was asking about her new furniture, which led to what the company is about. The discussion of nature and natural patterns became a topic of conversation between them. When we look at nature we can find shapes and colors that can be repeated and then made into patterns.

4.) describe impact of the new design

“Natural Patterns” is a new line of patterns that took inspirations from nature and used them to make patterns for interior design. It stood out to people because it was not a literal version of nature, but patterns that abstracted it. “Natural Patterns” tries to make sure to be different from other patterns that use natural elements.
